Data Centers | ISPs | Enterprise Networks
100G networking is becoming increasingly popular among Data Centers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Nepal.
Two common types of 100G fiber connections are 100G BiDi and 100G Dual Fiber.
1. Types of 100G Fiber Connections
100G BiDi (Bidirectional)
Fiber Required: 1 Core
Uses a single fiber core for both transmission (Tx) and reception (Rx), typically using different wavelengths.
Advantage: Saves fiber resources.
100G Dual Fiber
Fiber Required: 2 Cores
Uses one fiber core for transmission (Tx) and another fiber core for reception (Rx).
Advantage: Commonly used in standard duplex fiber links.
2. BiDi vs Dual Fiber
| Features | 100G BiDi | 100G Dual |
|---|---|---|
| Fiber Cores | 1 Core | 2 Cores |
| Transmission | Single Fiber | Dual Fiber |
| Fiber Saving | Yes | No |
